The Internet EIN (Employer Idenitification Number) application is the preferred method for customers to apply for and obtain an EIN. Once the application is completed, the information is validated during the online session, and an EIN is issued immediately. The online application process is available for all entities whose principal business, office or agency, or legal residence (in the case of an individual), is located in the United States or U.S. Territories.

Form the Legal Entity for Your Business with the Maryland Department of Assessments & Taxation

Upon approval, the Department of Assessments and Taxation will issue you an SDAT Identification Number, which will begin with a letter (“D”, “F”, “W”, “L”, “T” or “Z”). This number serves as Maryland’s unique identifier for your business. Importantly, this is not the FEIN number issued by the IRS and required by financial institutions to open an account.
